HOW DO I BECOME A CHRISTIAN?

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Sin is choosing to disobey God in either not doing what He wants us to do or by participating in something that He forbids us to be involved in. This verse tells us that at some point in our lives, we have all chosen to do our own thing and to ignore God. This verse also tells us that no matter how good we are, or what we have accomplished in life, that is not good enough to enter into His glory in heaven.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Question: How many people do you know that are 200 years old? Answer: There are not any. The reason for this is that we "all have sinned." One out of one people die because one out of one people are sinners. Re-read Romans 3:23. The payment of sin is death. But God in His love for you offers you a FREE GIFT in Jesus Christ which is eternal life in Heaven. All you have to do is ask Him for this free gift.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Question: How can God love me when I have made so many mistakes in life?

Answer: God loves you not for what you are or what you have done, but because He created you. The punishment for all the mistakes you have made is death. Re-read Romans 6:23. But God in loving you, has chosen to die in your place so that you can start over with a clean slate. That is what the cross and the resurrection are all about. And the good news is this, through Jesus, our slate will always be clean as we confess our sins to Him daily.

Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Romans 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Questions: Do you believe that Jesus died in your place and wants to forgive you of your sins? Do you believe that God loves you and He wants you to have a fresh start today? Are you willing to give Jesus control of your life and follow Him in obedience? Would you like to ask Jesus to come into your life as Lord and Savior and spend eternal life with Him in Heaven?

If you are willing, repeat this prayer as you call out to Jesus.

"Dear Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you. I know that I need you to forgive me of my sins. I know that you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to show your power over sin and death. I invite you to come into my heart, forgive me of my sins, and become Lord and Savior of my life. I will follow you. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. Amen."
